Everywhere else, the sun hides behind something.

A mountain. A building.

A road trip into the desert, to the middle of nowhere. It was a 50 year birthday, and a dear friend threw a desert party for her beloved one.

We ate cake — though I remember we forgot to bring forks, so we shared it with our hands, and with joy.

There is nowhere better to drive than a desert road — it is so open, so safe, no traffic.

While I was in the desert, I felt an incredible friendship from its camels — funny-looking, carrying you all along.

I found a desert rose. Delicate, fragile. I took it with me.

But you have to turn back before nightfall.

And then the sunset.
