On that day, the phone rang. She was not expecting any call; she picked it up, and it was her friend Munlay, who was her marriage witness 30 years ago. A good friend. She asked her if she wanted to travel to one of the islands of the Pacific Ocean with a group. That was an amazing offer; she had always wanted to go there. Why not now?
While talking to her, she was just wearing her sports clothes to go to the gym and looking at herself in the big mirror. She looked stunning and full of energy, and it was a very bright day. She was ready to go, and she took her big bottle of water off the nightstand near the mirror and put it in her sports bag.
She just said yes and asked for details of the tour, the itinerary, and places to visit on the island. Although she loves surprises, she also loves to imagine what to do and where to visit. She was excited, and after coming back from the gym, she bought her flight ticket and also asked some of her friends if they wanted to join her on this trip.
Island was famous for its blue moonstone. She had never heard of this stone before. There was a jewelry visit to buy some necklaces, rings, and earrings with many kinds of stones, but she didn’t want any of these gems, already carved and processed ones.
She wanted to see the natural blue moon stone. So she asked the guide where she could find it. Then, the guide brought her to the blue moon mine. The island people said that maybe they didn’t sell the natural stone; you could only take it as jewelry, but she insisted on having the natural stone and not the already processed ones as jewelry. She always loved natural things in life, unique pieces of nature, not the ones already standardized. Like cooking fresh food at home from scratch. The taste, the smell of it.
Near mine, there was a very small gem shop which sold only the stones from this mine. She entered there and asked, although everywhere was full of beautiful necklaces, rings, and earrings with blue moonstone, she repeated her request.
The guy opens the drawer under the table and shows her 3 stones. Immediately she knew which one. It was an opaque white stone on the table, but when she took it in her hands, it was shining, lights were dancing and radiating blue light all around. She asked, how much? The guy said, ohhh not much… this is just a stone… Her eyes shined and she asked if they could make it into a necklace, and they did. No one understood why she bought this simple stone. But she knew it was her “Traveler Stone.”
