On that day I saw a post. Olli needs a guardian, a companion to fly to Porto — to be reunited with his family.

I had been with Olli for a week, in the same shared hotel room with Deniz @ozdeoz , and I know what it feels like. Separate worlds, brokenness, even for a while. When it is time to change life, some stay behind and want to reunite.

Rules, procedures, things to do, things to organise. You shall, you shall not. Walking this path can delay a reunion. That was the case for Olli — a procrastination at the vet’s created the situation. And here I was, responding.

Papers. Tickets. Timing. Like a domino. The night before the flight I got sick. But I did it anyway.

Four hours to Porto, and my mind was with him all flight. On the other side, Deniz and Doğa. They waited. They waited. They waited.

And the big moment of reunion — it was not the big thing that fairy tales describe. It was a moment of continuity. It started where it paused.

Olli was thirsty. And Deniz expected that. She poured the water into his cup and Olli, he drank, he drank, he drank.

They were together, and I was on the other side of the picture. That is where a companion belongs, at the end.
